National Moss Day Celebration
A self-guided trail, guided walks and microscope displays about intriguing mosses and liverworts.
Just because they’re small and green doesn’t mean they’re all the same! In fact, mosses and liverworts display a huge variety of shapes and features making many quite easy to identify once looked at properly. They are also very important components in our temperate ecosystems creating micro-habitats enabling many other species to flourish. It is surprising then that so few people, even experienced naturalists, know anything about them.
October 21st was declared National Moss Day by the British Bryological Society and in support of this Herefordshire Wildlife Trust is holding this event at Queenswood County Park to showcase this group of plants to the general public.
Activities will include a self-guided trail, two free guided walks, microscope displays and information about how to follow up and increase your knowledge about all the intriguing mosses and liverworts that you have walked past without really noticing!
There are two guided walks (at 10am & 2:30pm) which have limited numbers so please book a slot.
Come and enjoy the day which is FREE to attend but donations are welcome.
Book your place on one of the free guided walks.
