Queenswood Car Park (image: Herefordshire council)

Following the transfer of management in March 2016, parking charges are now in effect for any any visitor not signed up the 'Friends of Queenswood & Bodenham Lake' scheme.

Parking charges are vital to fund the continued management of the two sites. Charges will cover the essential costs of staff on the two sites, buildings, utilities and toilet facilities, plus maintenance of Queenswood Site of Special Scientific Interest and Bodenham Lake nature reserve.

Why introduce parking charges?

The Partnership and CIC aim to see Queenswood and Bodenham Lake thriving for people and wildlife. We will seek external funding for much needed investment in both sites and our plans include improved visitor facilities at Queenswood whilst retaining the essence of this much-loved site. Bodenham Lake will continue to be managed as a nature reserve, ensuring the site retains its status as a wildlife haven.

All income from parking charges will be re-invested in Queenswood Country Park and Bodenham Lake.

Pay & Display Charges

Parking charges at Queenswood Country Park will be as follows, managed as a pay & display system:-

  • £1 for up to 1 hour
  • £3 for over 1 hour
  • £60 annual parking permit as part of the 'Friends of Queenswood & Bodenham Lake' scheme.
  • Motorcycles can park free of charge in designated motorcycle bays
  • Blue badge holders can park free of charge in designated disabled bays
  • Coaches are charged £10 regardless of length of stay.

Parking Permits

An annual parking permit is issued to those who join the ‘Friends of Queenswood & Bodenham Lake' scheme. This will cost £60.00 per year.

Car Park Monitoring

Please note that parking attendants are contracted by the Queenswood & Bodenham Lake partnership from a local company called Corporate Group, and are not the same as the Country Park staff. Our Country Park staff will not have responsibility for car park monitoring or enforcement, but will be able to sell Friends of Queenswood & Bodenham Lake parking permits, and answer questions about Queenswood itself and the work of the Partnership.
